Commercial Litigation, Alternative Dispute Resolution and International Arbitration

Although much of our civil and commercial litigation is in the English and French courts, our strong international focus means that we have also established a reputation for high-quality cross-border commercial litigation work in Africa, Asia and the Middle East. We act for corporate clients internationally, across a wide range of business sectors. We are also instructed by overseas lawyers.

We cover all aspects of commercial litigation including :

    • Contractual disputes
    • Misrepresentation actions
    • Shareholder and partnership disputes
    • Debt recovery
    • European Orders to Pay
    • Injunctions
    • Personal Injuries (PI)

Our lawyers can assess the strength and weakness of your claims and give you practical advice for the resolution of your civil or commercial disputes.

We can advise on the conduct of negotiations and carry out negotiations on your behalf at every stage of the dispute.

In addition to litigation, we advise our clients on alternative methods of resolving disputes, including:

Mediation – where a mediator, is appointed by the parties to a dispute to assist and facilitate resolution. It can be undertaken prior to or in parallel with a formal dispute process, or as required by the contractual documents governing the relationship between the parties.

Arbitration – Any contractual document which incorporates an arbitration clause may be resolved by reference to arbitration. We assist clients in resolving their local and international disputes through arbitration.

Expert Determination – a number of trade organisations provide for expert determination on specific types of disputes. Each scheme is specific to the relevant trade. We can represent you in disputes suited to expert determination.

Our objective is to assist our clients in resolving disputes in a manner that is suited to their aims and specific circumstances. We offer a service customized to the size and complexity of each case and provide practical and commercial advice to achieve the best possible outcome for our clients.
